BG PLANAR RIBBON LOUDSPEAKER TECHNOLOGY
You might be surprised to learn that conventional loudspeaker technology has not changed significantly since the 1920s. And while it has worked reasonably well, experts agree the technology also has serious limitations. As in virtually all products, new loudspeaker technology is now available that provides vastly superior performance. One such technology is planar ribbon technology, created and developed by BG Corp.
The proprietary BG planar diaphragm is ribbon based. The driver is directly and uniformly driven and there is no voice coil attached to the edge. An electromagnetic force acts on the aluminum conductors and is evenly distributed over the entire diaphragm surface, eliminating unwanted resonance. BG planar drivers are also phase coherent over their entire operational bandwidth while cones and domes have an inherent phase "smear" due to their physical depth (or profile).
Another important advantage with planar performance is the tremendous difference in the mass of the moving system. The incredibly thin diaphragm of a planar driver is ten times lighter than even the smallest dome tweeter and hundreds of times lighter than a woofer cone! This delivers fast and accurate transient response with amazing clarity and lifelike detail. All this results in superior transparency, sonic details and dynamics simply not available in a conventional transducer.
